Happy Monday, all.
Here at Nerdist we are no stranger to mash-ups, but we typically see them occur in the form of fake Power Rangers intros and fan-made Captain America: Civil War trailers. However, our new Monday feature, Mashup Mondays, allows us to swan dive into the overwhelmingly vast pool of musical mashups that exist in far corners of the internet. And this week’s mashup, well–it’s interesting, and we just had to share it with you. Feast your eyes and ears on the Nine Inch Nails Vs. Taylor Swift mashup, “Shake It Off (The Perfect Drug)”.
Taylor Swift and Nine Inch Nails are two things that shouldnât go together⦠at all⦠but weâll be dammed if this âShake it Offâ/âThe Perfect Drugâ combo doesnât get us moving.
Look, weâre not saying Trent Reznor should consider a stint in the pop game, but we are saying that if he did, we wouldnât be against it because this video just put a huge smile on our faces. Also, we wouldnât mind seeing Taylor take a stab at the industrial rock genre either. We bet she could pull it off. She is Taylor Swift after all.
What do you guys think of the mash-up? Would you be up for a Nine Inch Swift tour? Let us know in the comments below.
Love mashups! Good find!
some things should never happen
I love The Perfect Drug, and I can’t think this music with Taylor Swift, definitely.
“We bet she could pull it off. She is Taylor Swift after all.” and with that sentence I will never take this site seriously again. Peace Nerdist!
Damn. That Severus Snape really did love Lily Potter, eh?
As the unlikely combination of being a fan of NIN, this Taylor Swift song, and mashups in general, I have to say it turned out good (the rhythm sync was good throughout), but it wasn’t until the chorus where it really started to mesh harmonically. It was a bit rough in the lead-up.
This site has really good mashups by BratMix. My favorite ones are the Peter Gabriel vs. Nine Inch Nails followed by the Rick Astley vs. Nine Inch Nails. Check them out here:

If i hear the perfect drug one more time, i will scream
Is it just me, or does it sound like TRez is talking to TSwift through his lyrics?!?!
That was perfect!!
I miss Trent Renzor’s Dracula phase.
Severus loves Lily, that much is apparent.
brilliant editing and mixing…
Whole lotta “meh”
Da Fudge this is not a good mash up
Im not even mad. That’s amazing !
I have never pressed play on a Taylor Swift song but I wouldn’t mind seeing them do a proper team up together.
rhythmically went surprisingly well
The End Times are nigh
I think I speak for all of us when I say “What the fuck did I just watch?”
