Back in 2001, Marvel’s Alias comic book introduced readers to Jessica Jones. That series came to an end in 2004, but Jessica’s profile in the Marvel Universe steadily increased up to the point of landing her a Netflix series. Now, Marvel is ready for a new Jessica Jones ongoing series with the original creative team intact.
IGN broke the story that writer Brian Michael Bendis, artist Michael Gaydos, and cover artist David Mack will reunite this fall on Jessica Jones as part of the Marvel NOW! relaunch. A lot has changed in the last 12 years for Marvel’s superpowered private investigator. Jessica went on to marry Luke Cage and she developed strong ties with the Avengers before and after she gave birth to a baby girl named Danielle. But she still kicks a lot of ass!
Note that the first cover appears to be co-opting the logo of the Jessica Jones series on Netflix. Here’s Marvel’s description for the first issue.
“She is back after a decade! A lot has changed in the Marvel Universe and there are still many secrets hiding in the shadows. Secrets only a special woman like Jessica Jones can hope to uncover. Discover the haunting secrets from Jessicaâs past in this blistering new series. Alias Investigations is open for business.”
Jessica Jones #1 doesn’t currently have a release date, but that may change during the San Diego Comic-Con next week.
