Marvel’s DAREDEVIL Adds Élodie Yung as Elektra!

It’s official! Elektra is coming to Daredevil Season 2!

Marvel and Netflix have confirmed that actress Élodie Yung has been cast as Elektra Natchios in the new season of Daredevil. Elektra was created by Frank Miller in 1981 as the college girlfriend of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). However, their relationship was ruined because of her father’s brutal murder at the hands of terrorists. In response to that tragedy, Elektra trained to become one of the deadliest assassins in the world and she eventually returned as an adversary to Daredevil.

Elektra has been so popular among comic book readers that she remains one of Marvel’s most prominent female characters. Jennifer Garner previously played Elektra in the 2003 Daredevil movie and in the Elektra spinoff movie.

Yung may be best known for appearing as Jinx in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and she also had a small role in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. However, Yung will have a starring role as the goddess Hathor in the upcoming film, Gods of Egypt.

Earlier this summer, Jon Bernthal was cast as The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2. As reported on Nerdist, incoming co-showrunner Marco Ramirez referred to season 2 as “Daredevil vs. The Punisher.” And while the Jason Statham rumors didn’t pan out, Bullseye is also likely to have a large part in the upcoming second season. As comic fans know, Elektra and Bullseye have a very dramatic storyline with each other within the pages of Daredevil.

Daredevil Season 2 is currently filming, with a premiere on Netflix slated for early 2016.
