Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” Begins Filming

hero press release photo_R

According to a press release from Marvel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has officially commenced principal photography in Los Angeles, with additional shooting locations in Cleveland, OH and Washington DC planned as well. The sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, the Anthony and Joe Russo-directed film picks up in the wake of the events of The Avengers, following Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) as they try to ferret out a mysterious enemy in Washington.

The Winter Soldier  boasts an impressive cast of returning favorites, like Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and some new talent, including Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, UFC dynamo Georges St. Pierre as Batroc the Leaper, and film legend Robert Redford as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. leader. Regardless of his familiarity with the comics, we’re sure Redford will be a Natural.

Now, let’s all feast our eyes on the first of many teases, leaks and Phase II rumors we’re bound to hear about the film between now and April 4, 2014.

I can’t believe no commenters have mentioned the most amazing news in this article – Batroc the Leaper adapted into LIVE ACTION!!!

I’m a huge Captain America fan (my favorite superhero by far), and I loved the first movie. It was amazing. I’m already disappointed in the direction of this film. Scarlett Johansson (who I can’t stand) is hopping into this movie (can anyone say Iron Man 2?) AND they’re introducing The Falcon. There’s going to be too much going on (Batman & Robin / Spider-Man 3).

I’ve been an avid Marvel fan since I was a wee one, and I have to say these movies are turning out better than the comics. Except X-Men. That was a clusterf@#k…

I may be Irish, but I can’t wait for Captain America! (Considering how sub par the last one was)
