Mark Ruffalo Calls THOR: RAGNAROK a ‘Buddy Picture’

Captain America: Civil War may have an army of superheroes, but Thor: Ragnarok has a Hulk! After rumors spread that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk a.k.a Bruce Banner would be making an appearance in the third Thor movie, the report was recently confirmed and even Ruffalo has admitted that it’s going to happen.

However, Ruffalo is apparently in the dark about how the Hulk will reappear in Thor: Ragnarok, after Banner departed for parts unknown near the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. But he does have some idea about what kind of movie it’s going to be.

“I don’t really know that much about it, but I think it’s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner,” said Ruffalo during a press event for his new film Spotlight. “I think they’ll probably fight. There’s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point.”

Thor and Hulk already had a fight on the helicarrier during the first Avengers movie, but perhaps a rematch in Thor: Ragnarok can take that battle to the next level. It’s worth noting that one of the funniest moments in The Avengers featured the Hulk sucker-punching Thor after they worked together to bring down an alien creature. It could be very entertaining if the new Thor movie retains that dynamic between them.

There is an alternate possibility for the Hulk’s inclusion in this movie. The word “ragnarok” implies that this story will be the end times for Thor and the Asgardians. If things go badly, then perhaps the Hulk is meant to be the sole witness to the twilight of the Gods.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 2, 2017. Taika Waititi is slated to direct the film with returning cast members Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif.
