Mark Millar Is Looking for an Artist to Draw New HIT-GIRL Series

Comic book writer Mark Millar, best known for his work on Marvel comics like The Ultimates and Fantastic Four and creator-owned work like Kingsman and Kick-Ass, is now looking for someone to draw his upcoming Hit-Girl series. Millar is publicly offering $10,000 per issue and a “generous royalty package” to the chosen lucky artist. The character of Hit-Girl was first introduced in  the original Kick-Ass comic series and its sequels, and was famously played by Chloë Grace Moretz in the 2010 film version and its sequel.

In a forum post on his own Millar World website, the writer said, “Instead of messing around emailing people privately I thought I’d just do a big shout out right now to the comic-book community. We’re looking for someone truly great for this, someone who can really handle a monthly deadline.”

Right now, the current plan is to publish approximately eight issues of Hit-Girl a year, and, according to Millar, “payment is $10,000 dollars an issue for black and white art and a generous royalty package for monthly books and trades.” The folks over at Newarama have noticed that Millar’s offer makes it one of the highest-paying projects in comic book history.

The character of Hit-Girl is owned by both Millar and legendary illustrator John Romita Jr, but he is currently working at DC Comics, leaving him unavailable for this series. The new Hit-Girl spin-off series was first announced way back in October of last year,  supposedly with a “superstar creative team” attached, which was planned to be revealed earlier this year. Whoever the mystery artists was, plans seem to have fallen through, leaving Millar with this unique approach to finding a new artist.
