Mark Hamill to Reprise The Trickster for CW’s THE FLASH Series

For a short time on CBS, many moons ago, The Flash streaked across audience’s television screens in a series that, sadly, only managed to sustain a single season before getting the boot. However, one aspect of the program managed to live in such infamy that it landed the actor involved a second career-defining job. Of course, we refer to Mark Hamill’s work on the 1990 series as The Trickster, a deranged killer that, unlike some other foes, often managed to gain the upper hand on the Scarlet Speedster in highly comedic ways.

The role was so impactful to some that it’s one of the main reasons Hamill would, not shortly after, go on to voice The Joker in numerous animated projects for DC. Now, according to new reports, it seems he’ll soon be returning to a live-action space for the DC Universe.

According to Hitfix, Hamill will return with a “new interpretation” of the famed James Jesse in the seventeenth episode of season one that will see the character as a “anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry and Detective West to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.” The report goes on to add, “the episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.”

Well, it certainly appears 2015’s going to a great year for Mark Hamill fans. In addition to his return to Star Wars: The Force Awakens next December, we’ll get to see him get back into the wacky supervillain groove as well. Hopefully the man’s been working out for his Star Wars appearance because he’s gonna need to be in the best shape of his life if he has any hope of going up against Barry and his pals.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
