Race to Buy Rainbow Road in MARIO KART MONOPOLY

Have you ever played a game of Monopoly and wished you could fire a Mario Kart-style blue shell at a player before they land on Broadway? Well, you’re in luck. Hasbro Games and Nintendo have joined forces for a Mario Kart themed edition of Monopoly. And the famous power-ups are incorporated into the game.

Like the previously released Super Mario edition, Monopoly Gamer: Mario Kart Edition gives the classic board a makeover mashing the two titles together. For example, the properties are now called Rainbow Road, Bower’s Castle, and other iconic Mario Kart locations. Certain spots on the board can give players a boost or a star of invincibility. Players will also have to contend with banana peels and Koopa Shells, which can take out the leader in the race around the board.

At the moment, the playable characters only include Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad. However,  Bowser, Rosalina, Shy Guy, Metal Mario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi will be available for purchase later this fall alongside “Power Pack” tokens that will enhance the gameplay. Each player character has their own special abilities that will be triggered throughout the game. Unlike other editions of Monopoly, the currency in this game consists only of gold coins.

Monopoly Gamer: Mario Kart Edition is available now through Gamestop, and it will be released by other retailers in June.
