Margot Robbie Unleashes Her Inner Supervillain Again as SNL’s “Librarian”

The moment we heard that Margot Robbie would be hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, it seemed obvious: there had to be a Suicide Squad parody, right? Or at the very least, one of the cast members interrupting her monologue with an overly creepy Jared Leto impersonation?

As it turns out, not quite. There was an obligatory Leto joke, but perhaps without Jay Pharoah around to do his Will Smith impersonation, Task Force X didn’t make it onto the bill. However, Robbie did manage to take all that crazy, sexy, terrifying energy from her portrayal of Harley Quinn, and use it to create something just as wild and metahuman: “The Librarian”!

It begins like a typical college fantasy, with Bobby Moynihan as the student hopelessly crushing on a sexy librarian (Robbie). And she likes it–it seems, in the tradition of every Playboy home video ever, that she’s about to make his dreams come true. But she doesn’t just take off the glasses and let her hair down; she then tears her hair out, takes out her teeth, reveals some horrific tattoos, and eventually proceeds to super murder powers. Even Jared Leto and his alter-ego Joker might have trouble handling this one.

While the library is at “Villines” Academy, which is just two letters away from “villainess,” that’s not the clue we initially thought it was; rather, it’s a tribute to late SNL director Matt Villines. And though a Harley skit would have been nice (if obvious), this librarian was close enough to the demented Dr. Quinzel in spirit.

If Harley had to fight the Librarian, who would win? Share your thoughts in comments below.
