Marathon GAME OF THRONES, AMERICAN GODS First Look at Vulcan, and More TV News

Happy almost-Christmas! If you’re celebrating this weekend, I hope you enjoy the holiday. Before you put on your favorite festive attire and start making cookies for Santa, take a minute to catch up on the latest happenings in the realm of television news. Today’s TV-Cap has information on a Game of Thrones marathon, a Cruel Intentions reboot update, and a first look at Vulcan in American Gods.

Ice and Fire. Have next week off? Settle in and put your TV on HBO2 beginning December 26 at 12:00p.m. ET/PT for a Game of Thrones marathon. The channel will move into Westeros next week, showing all six seasons one day at a time. That means season six will air on December 31. If your DVR has room and you don’t own the show on Blu-ray, this is an excellent way to catch up.

A Perfect Match. Game of Thrones and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia don’t seem like the most natural of pairings, but YouTuber Pa Jama saw how they could go together. He combined the two series in a fun mash-up, It’s Always Sunny in Westeros. Watch and enjoy. [Nerdist]

Put a Fork In It. The possibility of a Cruel Intentions reboot has been rattling around, but the idea is officially dead. NBC passed on the series in October, but another network could have picked the TV sequel up. However, the cast’s extended options end next week and won’t be renewed. [TVLine]

Get Merry. Want a cup of animated holiday cheer? The DC Universe has you covered with a variety of Christmas-themed episodes. Not sure where to start? Joseph has you covered with these recommendations.

Holiday Wishes! Attention Wynonna Earp fans: cast members Melanie Scrofano and Dominique Provost-Chalkley have a special Christmas wish for you. [Nerdist]

Meet Vulcan. Is it time for American Gods yet? We have to wait until April 2017 for the debut of the Starz adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel, and I, for one, can’t wait. Pictures help though, and Entertainment Weekly (EW) has the first look at Corbin Bernsen as Vulcan. The character, who was not in the book source material, is inspired by the Roman god of the same name; he was the deity of metalworking and volcanoes. In modern times, that translates to Vulcan being the god of guns. See the picture at EW. [CBR]

Wish List. Eric has hopes and dreams for the upcoming television series based on Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles–as I’m sure most fans of the books do. Eric goes over five things he wants to see in the series right here at Nerdist.

Extended Grittiness. Is The CW’s Riverdale going to showcase the perfect town? A new extended trailer for the upcoming drama (debuting January 26) shows the seedy underbelly. Murder, sex, moodiness–it’s all there. [Deadline]

A Couple of Recaps. Though many series have wrapped for a midseason break, a handful of shows are still airing new episodes. To that end, read our recaps of the newest installments of Vikings and Scream Queens.

If you have a break for the holidays, will you be marathoning any television series? Tell me your picks in the comments or come talk to me on Twitter.
