Have you seen makeup artist Chrisspy‘s work? She’s always got some crazy new look to display, but this one may give you nightmares. Chrisspy has transformed herself into Dory from the upcoming Disney sequel Finding Dory, in a video posted on her YouTube page (via LaughingSquid). “It looks really creepy and scary when I’m talking and when my eyes are open,” she says in the seven-plus-minute tutorial. Chrisspy, you are correct! “Creepy” and “scary” are definitely the right words. There’s also “hellish” and “bleach-my-eyeballs-because-I-can’t-unsee-this!” To be clear, this is one seriously talented lady! Finding Nemo is one of Chrisspy’s favorite Pixar movies, according to the video. She’s also a huge fan of Ellen Degeneres, the voice of Dory, and hopes that Ellen will actually see this video. Ellen, you have to check this out!
So, how does she do this? Chrisspy begins by using a household glue stick to smooth down her brows. You could also use wax, but as any good makeup artist will tell you (I did that job for years, so I can confirm), sometimes random things around your kitchen and office work better than the super expensive stuff in the store. She sets it with powder and puts on a bald cap with spirit gum. Pro tip: Do not try to take off spirit gum without the remover they sell or you won’t need a bald cap to make your hairline disappear.
Once she has a blank canvas, Chrisspy lightly sketches out the main lines of her creation and fills in with blue paint. (Make sure you use actual body paint if you try this at home. You can find something like Wolfe Brothers that mixes with water. Some body paints mix with alcohol, which makes it stay on longer, but it’s a pain to get off.)  After painting the background colors, Chrisspy starts shading with powder, which gives you more control. She decided to paint the entire mouth area black instead of doing a tongue. This is the second time she attempted this; painting in the tongue made it hard to cover her actual lips. She also used black paint to cover the areas of her face, neck, and head that she wanted to disappear into the background. You’ll notice that she’s doing the tutorial on a black background as well.
This is where it starts getting nightmarish. She painted on the eyes with purple paint, though she had to adjust the shape to make them appear round on an uneven canvas. Having done body paint on myself before, I can tell you that this is the hardest part. When you’re painting on your eyelids, you have to have one open to see what you’re doing. The problem is, you have to make sure the paint is dry before you blink or open your eye or you’ll smudge everything. It takes a lot of practice.
To create the fins, Chrisspy blew up a picture of Dory, printed it out and put it on some construction paper. She bobby pinned it onto the bald cap and the other ones with liquid latex on her face.
