Itâs been an eventful season on Game of Thrones, and while the Battle of the Bastards gave us all the action we could have ever wanted, it still wasnât the end of the story. This Sunday it will all come to a head with the super-sized season finale of Game of Thrones.
As you may have seen on our weekly food show, Put This In Your Mouth (above), weâve got your viewing party covered with themed snacks. These Brienne of Tarth Brie Tarts are sweet and savory, filled with creamy brie cheese and topped with grapes (which are plentiful in Westeros, thanks to all the wine thatâs consumed by some of our favorite character). Add a bit of salty bacon and a touch of honey, lay the House Stark sigil down and you have the most fabulous party food this side of The Wall. Enjoy the finale!
Game of Thrones Brienne of Tarth Brie Tarts
(makes 4 tarts)
Youâll need:
-4.75-inch tart pans
–House Stark cookie cutter from sweetprintsinc.com
Pastry dough ingredients:
-2 cups all-purpose flour
-1 teaspoon sugar
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-6 Tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
-4 – 6 tablespoons ice water
Tart ingredients:
-1 wedge brie
-3/4 cup bacon, cooked and chopped
-1-1/2 cups grapes, quartered
-1 Tablespoon honey
-Pinch of salt
Egg wash:
-1 egg
-1 Tablespoon water
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt, and sugar. With a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until itâs in crumbly, small pieces.
Drizzle in the water by the Tablespoon mixing just until the dough comes together.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep a baking sheet with silpat or parchment.
Roll out â of the dough and use a well-floured cookie cutter to cut out four House Stark shapes. Set aside on a piece of parchment and let chill in the fridge.
Roll the rest of the dough out and press into the tart pans.
Remove the rind and cut the brie into ¼-inch thick pieces. Add the grapes in a circular pattern, sprinkle with bacon, then drizzle with honey and season with salt.
Place the reserved cut out Stark symbols into the center of each tart.
In a small bowl whisk together the egg and water to make and egg wash and use a pastry brush to brush the Stark symbol.
Place on a baking sheet and bake for 16-18 minutes until the pastry is browned.
Serve immediately.
