In need of the ultimate holiday centerpiece to impress friends and family at the dinner table? Look no further than Kitchen Overlordâs Dune-inspired Spice-filled Sandworm Bread. Kitchen Overlord’s Chris-Rachael Oseland is a Dune fan with a higher calling, to create edible Sandworms in every form imaginable.
A quick perusal of the Kitchen Overlord site and youâll see this isnât her first worm-rodeo. Past recipes include Sandworm Spice Cookies, Sandworm Crudite, and even Sandworm Beef Wellington. Thereâs nothing wrong with enthusiastic fandom but when all your meals look like the Great Maker of Arrakis, maybe this worm obsession isnât entirely healthy, just saying.
If youâre spice mining youâve just hit the motherload. This pastry beast is most impressive and filled with what else? Spice and lots of it. Garam masala, cinnamon, and brown sugar make this Sandworm fragrant and undeniably delicious. Though Iâll say that hidden raisins is truly what makes this the most dangerous of breads.
Directions for this dough creature are typical. Oseland advises: Let the yeast blossom like a sand storm in the desert. To create this monster punch it like a fat Harkonen. You know, typical baking instructions.
This is Oselandâs second attempt at a bread Sandworm, but her first try was admittedly more Tremors than Dune, not that thereâs anything wrong with that, both are terrifying forms of carbs. This go-round she learned from past mistakes and gave the worm a more slithery shape and angled the almond teeth differently. You know, so that you can make edible crysknives later.
Let me tell you, this is the centerpiece youâll want at your Christmas dinner. Grandma and all the young kids will be clamoring for a piece of the Great Makerâs spicy annelid body.
