Madonna Premieres New ‘Living For Love’ Video On Snapchat

Madonna has always been a pretty polarizing artist, but regardless of whether you love her or hate her, it’s hard to deny the woman’s ability to constantly—and consistently—reinvent and innovate.

Sure, it’s been hard for her to bounce back from multiple leaks of her latest album, Rebel Heart, which happened back in December 2014, but those momentary viral setbacks haven’t stopped Madge from powering through and trying to make the best of a bad situation.

Her 13th studio album is now set for an official release on March 6, 2015, and for the LP’s first single, the 56-year-old pop icon did something no artist has ever done before—she debuted “Living For Love” video on Snapchat‘s Snap Channel through the app’s newly launched Discover feature.

The clip, which is drenched in beautiful red, white, and black hues, is reminiscent of Madonna’s 1994 video for “Take A Bow,” which featured the singer sitting ringside to a Spanish bullfight. In “Living For Love,” Madonna switches roles. She’s no longer the regal-looking onlooker. Rather, she’s the one donning the matador’s signature outfit. Only this time, it’s haute couture and instead of taming bulls, she’s riding some dude in a rhinestoned mask with antlers.

Edgy.

All ribbing aside, the video itself is gorgeous and the song is catchy, too. There’s a retro, ’90s club feel to the track, which gives us warm and fuzzy memories of watching Downtown Julie Brown wearing some kind of weird oversized bow and introducing a Crystal Waters video on Club MTV.

With “Living For Love,” Madonna proves she has the sick beats* and killer dance moves to keep up with artists less than twice her age.

Papa might not preach, but we’re firm believers in the gospel according to Madonna.

*I know I probably have to pay royalties to Taylor Swift for saying this phrase, but I don’t care!
