M. Night Shyamalan’s GLASS Poster and Plot Details Combine UNBREAKABLE and SPLIT

In 2016, M. Night Shyamalan managed to pull off another one of his classic twists when the final moments of Split revealed that it was a follow up to his earlier film, Unbreakable. Next year, Bruce Willis‘ David Dunn will go after James McAvoy‘s Kevin Wendell Crumb (a.k.a. The Horde) in Glass. But first, David is going to be reunited with his own personal nemesis: Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), the mad genius known as Mr. Glass.

Shyamalan has hinted that the first footage from Glass will debut at his San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday, July 20. And to tide fans over, the director dropped the first poster for the movie, which finds David, Kevin, and Elijah in a mental institution as their true selves appear in their reflections.

The big question that this asks is how David and Kevin were captured and locked away. If the ending of Split is any indication, Kevin’s full powers as the Horde were unleashed and David’s heroic actions were largely under the radar for the better part of two decades. David clearly doesn’t deserve to be imprisoned with these two, but perhaps he’s exactly where he needs to be. The official synopsis reads “Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.”

American Horror Story veteran Sarah Paulson is also starring in Glass as a psychiatrist who is treating the trio in the mental hospital. Anya Taylor-Joy is returning as Casey Cooke, the lone survivor from Split; while Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard are reprising their Unbreakable roles as David’s son Joseph and Elijah’s mother, respectively.

Glass will be released in theaters on January 18, 2019.
