Star Wars: Battlefront doesn’t come out until November, but fans were able to get a taste of it when the beta was open from October 8-12. Even with the limited access allowed, there was more than enough material to create some hilarious shenanigans. The above videoâof Luke Skywalker’s death, R.I.P.âis a perfect example.
Set during the Battle of Hoth from Empire Strikes Back, the gameplay is from the point of view of what looks to be a Stormtrooper. You can see in the distance someone bouncing around without a care in the world, and as he gets closer, it turns out to be the last remaining Jedi, Luke Skywalker (Hey, Force Awakens doesn’t come out until December. We can’t assume anything).
The Stormtrooper watches Luke as he showboats about Hoth, bouncing around with gleeful abandon. It’s pretty hilarious at the onset, that is until he decides to run straight into the path of an oncoming AT-AT. Awoops. To change the cliche a bit, “He brought a lightsaber to a massively large, tremendously armed Imperial Walker fight.” Enjoy that ghost world with your dad who, depending on which version you watch, may be younger than you now. Space is crazy, eh?
So what do you think? Did whining about going to Tosche Station for some power converters FINALLY catch up to young Jedi? And Jedi or not, he’s on HOTH. Shouldn’t he be wearing a coat? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
