LUCKY CHARMS Adds Unicorn Marshmallows

Have you ever eaten a bowl of Lucky Charms and known deep down something was missing? Despite the utter deliciousness of the crunchy-then-squishy marshmallows and the beautiful shade of greenish white your milk turned as soon as the cereal hit the bowl, the experience was incomplete. Your days of marshmallow-related ennui are over! According to PR Newswire, General Mills is adding a marshmallow to its permanent Lucky Charms roster for the first time in a decade. And even more exciting, it’s a unicorn!

The new marshmallow, like the rainbow, shooting stars, and others before it, is multicolored. This particular magical clump of sugar features a white head shape with a pretty pink and baby blue swirled mane. Some might say it doesn’t look exactly like a unicorn, but given that unicorns are most likely mythical, who are they to judge?

Per General Mills’ press release, this is “the first-ever marshmallow to be inspired and created by kids,” which seems about right, given the sheer whimsy and outright awesomeness of the unicorn. The rest of the lineup (hearts, horseshoes, clovers, blue moons, red balloons, and the aforementioned rainbows and shooting stars) will remain the same with one notable exception: the unfairly maligned hourglass. (We’ll miss you, time-traveling buddy.)

Currently, unicorn-filled boxes of Original and Chocolate Lucky Charms are hard to find in the wild, which seems appropriate. Fortunately, wide release of the magical beasts begins next month at major grocers and big box stores.

What’s the most magical cereal you’ve ever consumed? Let us know in the comments!
