Loot Crate Leverages ’80s Nostalgia In Their Latest Video

Loot Crate’s taking a trip into the past for their January box o’ goodies. The theme is “Rewind” and that means traveling to the ’80s and celebrating all things retro. We’re not going to talk about how old it makes me feel to call toys and commercials from the ’80s retro. Nope.

To promote “Rewind,” Loot Crate has gone through their archives and discovered a commercial they made in 1989. It has all the hallmarks of the era, and guys, there’s even a fog machine. Watch:

How fabulous was that? It’s important to note the items in the commercial are not indicative of the products in January’s crate. They have provided some hints about what will come with their “Rewind” theme though– the box will include exclusive items from Star Wars, Voltron, a retro gaming mash-up figure and a licensed shirt.

Not familiar with Loot Crate? Here’s what you need to know: Loot Crate is a mystery box subscription. You pay $13.37/month plus shipping and handling (less if you sign up for a long-term plan), and a box packed with loot arrives on your doorstep around the third week of the month. The boxes follow various themes, and past crates have been themed Battle, Fear, Galactic, etc. You can take a look at what toys and swag were included in past crates at Loot Crate’s site.

You have until January 19th to sign up for Loot Crate and receive this month’s Rewind crate. What do you think the exclusive Star Wars item will be? Give your best guess in the comments below.

  1. Jeremiah Johnson says:

Loot Crate either nails it or drops the ball completely. Nerd Block is way more consistent, and you always get a t-shirt.

    • Lucien Sanchez says:

Nerd Block is also, usually, full of rubbish items that only just come to or just above the actual cost of the subscription fee.

  2. Hdresden77 says:

Marvel Star Wars issue 1, is my guess since the issue comes out this week.

  3. KamenWeaver says:

They pretty much nailed that one

  4. Bozo says:

I love my subscription, has been nothing but awesomeness on a monthly basis.
