DC Reveals First Look at Arrowverse’s Lois Lane

This year’s CW Arrowverse crossover was already going to be especially epic, as it will be introducing Batwoman, but now it just got a little bit of extra awesomeness for DC Comics fans. Deadline has announced that actor Tyler Hoechlin will be returning as Superman for the first time since Supergirl season two, and he’s bringing someone special with him: ace Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. Lois has been mentioned before on Supergirl, as her sister Lucy Lane was a recurring character on the first season, but this is the first time she will appear on the series in the flesh.

UPDATE, 11/9/18 – Now we’ve got our first look at the Daily Planet‘s star journalist. DC Comics’ official Twitter account shared a picture of Hoechlin alongside Elizabeth Tulloch, who’ll be playing Lois in the Arrowverse crossover.

You may know Tulloch, who is sometimes credited as Bitsie, from her starring role on the fantasy series Grimm or for her part in the Will Smith film Concussion. She’ll join the DC realm by way of the forthcoming The Flash episode “Elseworlds,” which will air on The CW in December.

9/22/18 – In a statement, Supergirl Executive Producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner said “We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse. This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.” Although it is stated that Hoechlin’s Superman will be in all three episodes of the crossover event, it’s not stated whether or not Lois will be as well. This introduces the interesting possibility that Lois might be joining the cast of Supergirl for a more extended stay than her famous husband.

With Batwoman being introduced in this crossover, and Superman appearing as well, does this mean we’ll get a mention of Batman too? After all, it’s been heavily hinted at on Supergirl that Batman exists on Supergirl’s Earth, and fought alongside her famous cousin, even if he wasn’t actually properly name dropped. But Bruce Wayne has been name dropped on Arrow. Does this mean there are two Batmen in the Arrowverse, and yet we’ll never see either one? Or does the CW have one more surprise in store for us during this crossover event?

The three-night crossover event will see the days and time slots of the CW Arrowverse shows switched around a bit, with the whole thing starting off with The Flash on at 8 PM Sunday, December 9, followed by Arrow on at 8 PM December 10 and capping off with Supergirl on December 11. The Flash and Supergirl will swap days, as usually The Flash airs on Tuesdays and Supergirl on Sunday. Arrow however will keep its regular Monday night slot for the three part saga. For unknown reasons, the characters from Legends of Tomorrow won’t be included in this year’s crossover. With Superman, Batwoman, The Flash, Supergirl, and Green Arrow, this might be the closest fans ever get to a CW version of the Justice League.
