Live Action ATTACK ON TITAN Character Posters Reveal Cast in Costume

After months and months of speculation over what it might look like and a weird detour that saw the Marvel Universe mashing up with the Attack on Titan manga, we finally have our first look at the cast of the live action Attack on Titan in costume. Earlier today, a series of character posters offer our heavily-photoshopped first looks at what costume designer Isao Tsuge has in store for how Eren, Armin, Mikasa and the gang will look in the forthcoming film. And they look, well, not exactly like what many readers of Hajime Isayama’s manga and anime watchers were expecting.

There’s a method to the madness, though. According to producer Yoshihiro Satou, “We weren’t concerned about casting people on the basis of whether or not they looked like their character in the manga. After many discussions with Isayama-sensei, we cast people only on the ability to carry over the spirit of the character.” Admittedly, I was a bit taken aback by some of the character designs, but as is my policy, I’ll be reserving judgment until I see the final product. After all, that Subaru commercial that served as proof of concept was pretty rad, so maybe this will live up to our lofty expectations.

    pretty content and excited

  2. MoneyBoy says:

Hopefully they don’t blow it so bad that a US studio can’t pick it up and do another adaptation.

  3. christa says:

why is there all asians .

    Check the shooting location https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fresH4KKTb0
    It’s going to be EPIC!

  5. Vladimir Putin says:

Allright, the movie is made in Japan, and they had to rewrite the plot and settings to fit all asian actors in the reimagined universe. Okay. But then they could reverse it, and make Mikasa the only blue eyed, blondy white left on Earth. Simples! Why they didn’t do it?

  6. ben says:

Aren’t they not supposed to be Asian, isn’t MIKASA supposed to be the only Asian?

  7. Alex Howard says:

Your name represents my feelings on this.

  8. Eh... says:

So in a land where there is only one remaining Asian (who is only half at that). The entire cast is Japanese? One of the few anime adaptions that should NOT have had an Asian cast.

  9. criz again says:

so much poorly executed photoshopped lense flare

  10. david says:

the one anime where there not suppose to be all asian

  11. K4y14 says:

Super Jacked! For me the character designs are secondary, the films tend to take a slightly different direction than the animes or the mangas anyways, it’s the acting and the character personality that really has to shine. eeeek!!!

  12. TheDukeWayne says:

I think the characters look the part and the image clips definitely embody the spirit of the characters but to see how it actually plays out. I will continue to reserver judgement.
