Lindsey Stirling Revamps Hans Zimmer’s THE DARK KNIGHT Theme

After Tim Burton‘s Batman movie in 1989, Danny Elfman was a hard act to follow for any film composer. But throughout Christopher Nolan‘s Dark Knight trilogy, Hans Zimmer not only gave Batman a gloriously iconic theme, he also cemented his own status as one of the best composers in Hollywood. Now, Zimmer is reimagining his own Dark Knight theme with the help of violinist Lindsey Stirling!

Via Billboard, Stirling and Zimmer’s new take on The Dark Knight Rises‘ main theme has been released as the first track from an upcoming album called “The Classics.” “I have always loved Hans Zimmer’s work,” Stirling told Billboard. “There have been several times I’ve been writing a song and I’ve thought, ‘What would Hans do?’ He has a gift for making things sound magical.”

We can’t argue with that. In the course of his nearly 40-year career, Zimmer has composed the score for over 150 films. For “The Classics,” Zimmer is revisiting some of his most famous themes from The Lion King, Crimson Tide, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, Man of Steel, and Interstellar in collaboration with Stirling and several others. The list of artists contributing to the album includes 2CELLOS, the Piano Guys, Lang Lang, Leona Lewis, Till Broenner, Maxim Vengerov, Amy Dickson, Khatia Buniatishvili, and Roger Sayer.

“The Classics” will be released on Friday, January 13, 2017.
