There are those who are eagerly awaiting Final Fantasy XV, those whose lives have been engulfed by Final Fantasy XIV: A Real Reborn, and then those who’ve been itching to get their hands on Lightning Returns, the continuation of the Final Fantasy XIII story. You may fall into more than one of those categories, but if you happen to fall into the last one, you’ll be happy to know that the playable demo for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is available on Xbox Live and will be available on the PlayStation Network sometime today.
The return of the series’ first post-VII female main protagonist will bring about a few changes from her previous outing. In the demo, you’ll catch a glimpse of the real-time elements that have been added to the field and battle system. Similar to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Lightning will fight on her own and without a party accompanying her, battling as a one-woman militia.
Speaking of Final Fantasy VII, pre-ordering the game will get you Cloud Strife’s SOLDIER First Class uniform. You’ll also receive Lightning’s Utsusemi Samurai outfit just for playing the demo and an undisclosed, limited edition DLC item for posting your final score after battling through the demo. That’s a pretty decent return, wouldn’t you agree? Take the demo for a spin and let us know how you feel about the updated battle system in the comments.
A lot of people give FF13 shit 4 bein shitty but I had fun playing it and am still playin it I’m fuqin stuck on the first fuqin disc which I hear is like the beginning tutorial of the game I still haven’t even gathered my freakin team yet! So okay it’s shitty
I liked Final Fantasy games when they were more open world, sandbox type games, so it was disappointing when I played 13, and then they made two more sequels to my least favorite game of the entire series 🙁
Yeah, that’s most people’s main issue with XIII. I didn’t mind the streamlined experience, as it was a refreshing change of pace, but I can see why it annoyed many. I’m sure they’ll go back to the open world style in future titles.
You guys are correct Jesse and Mous3! I was speaking in terms of post-VII protagonist. Thanks for pointing that out.
Final Fantasy VI had the first female protagonist.
actually the first female protagonist of final fantasy was terra from final fantasy 6
