Sometimes, half the fun of a television show is speculating on what might happen on said television show while we sit and wait [not so] patiently for its return. Such is the case for the sixth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which is heading into truly unprecedented territory for the Song of Ice and Fire. And we’re dying (to be reborn again) to know what’s in store for the characters we’ve all come to know, love, andâsometimesâreally, really hate (but then end up loving later because ugh this show is so complicated in the best way).
During Sunday night’s finale of The Leftovers, the briefest of new glimpses into the current State of the Realm were unveiled, showing us Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei and Tommen Lannister, andâcuriously enoughâRamsay Bolton (née Snow). If you’re watching the video above, the network’s new footage begins at the 1:44 mark. Now, it’s admittedly not much of anything, but what’s the fun of just leaving it at that? (Spoiler alert: no fun!) So let’s dive into the screengrabs we managed and see what we might extrapolate from it all. Naturally, there are potential spoilers here so just like, be chill about it or GTFO of this post.
First up? This image of Dany looking disheveled and alone:
What’s wrong, Dany? Are you surrounded by a crazy-large khalasar run by Khal Drogo’s former best bud? And where you at at this point and time? The Dothraki Sea? Somewhere else entirely? Tell us, Dany. Tell us!
Or how about ol’ grumplestiltkins over here, Ramsay:
Homeboy looks as if he’s ready to go to battle, what with his banner flying at his side. Could he be ready to confront a siege from the North or South? Is he about to meet his end at the hand of a reanimated Jon Snow?
And then, of course, there’s a rare, motherly moment between Cersei and Tommen:
Why you hugging your son, girl? You look cleanâare you about to die thanks to your champions failures? Did you stab your son to save him from some far more terrible fate? Did you just sentence his wife, Queen Margaery, to death? Whatever the case with you, we’re certain it’s duplicitous at best, girl.
But what do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
