The Latest Rumors About FALLOUT 76

With the announcement of a new Fallout game, two different Pokémon RPGs coming to the Switch, and James Marsden starring in a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, it’s been a big week for video games, and on today’s Nerdist News Talks Back we broke down all of them to see which one has us most excited to hit play.

Very excited video game aficionado Jessica Chobot was joined today by senior editor Dan Casey, producer Jason Nguyen, and Nerdist News writer Joey Clift. They started with Bethesda’s surprise teaser for Fallout 76, the next installment in the franchise. Rumors say it might be an online, multiple-player game in the style of Rust. Are we excited by this possibility? What do we want to see from the game? Will we be disappointed by not being able to target an enemy’s head? Will the franchise lose some of its charm moving away from single-player? And what kind of story can we expect from a setting only 25 years after the bombs dropped?

This week we also learned Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will come to the Nintendo Switch this November, but they will mostly be reboots of the old handheld versions of the games. Are we excited to play them again anyway? What about the Pokeball controller coming to the Switch that will help integrate Pokémon Go to the system? How much do these add-ons entice us to spend even more money? And for those of us still holding out, is this enough to get us to finally buy the Switch?

Finally, James Marsden will star in the hybrid live-action/animation Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Are we excited for this? Do we really need this movie? What do we hope the plot is like? And would we rather see this or the Ryan Reynolds Detective Pikachu movie?
