LET THE RIGHT ONE IN Officially Has a Pilot Order at TNT

If you thought the end of vampires on TV was nigh with the announcement that The Vampire Diaries is heading into its final season, think again. Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist’s popular novel Let the Right One In, which has already spawned two films, Let the Right One In and Let Me In, will now give way to a (long-gestating) small screen adaptation. The series has just been given a pilot order over at TNT, per Deadline.

The atmospheric horror drama about a bullied boy who befriends a young girl he later discovers to be a vampire, Let the Right One In‘s TV iteration will take place in a small town in Vermont, where the vampire and her caretaker settle down. After a series of murders most foul begin popping up, their friendship is tested as law enforcement comes a-knockin’ to discover who’s killing people in such odd fashion.

The original 2008 Swedish film quickly gained acclaim when it premiered, inspiring an American remake of the story, dubbed Let Me In, which starred Chloë Grace-Moretz as Abby and Kodi Smit-Phee as Owen (the original characters were named Eli and Oskar). In a rare twist of fate, the remake of the foreign original also scored itself acclaim and success, so it’s no wonder TNT has given this iteration the go-ahead.

There’s no word as to the cast, but expect it to pull in a prestige-y name or two, what with TNT’s growing list of darker, grittier dramas like Animal Kingdom starring and the Michelle Dockery (yes, Lady Mary from Downton Abbey) starrer Good Behavior.

What do you think of the news? Who would you like to see cast in it? Let us know in the comments below.
