You wanted LEGO to get nuts? They got nuts. Behold a minifig-scaled roller coaster with a working lift chain that pulls the cars up the hill and then releases to let gravity do the rest. This is one of those times you might wish for Ant-Man‘s powers just to experience it for yourself.
If that were all the set contained, it would be enough. But what’s a theme park coaster without a ticket booth, juice bar, and cotton candy vendor? (LEGO is too tasteful to include LEGO puke, but multiple one-by-one studs could do it in a pinch).
Even though all minifigs are pretty much the same size, this ride features a height checker to make sure the lap bars fit.
There’s even a pond with a frog in it, though that isn’t readily viewable in these first images, ditto details like the on-ride camera that snaps you during your most awkward scream. The set includes 11 minifigs, eight of which have double facial expressions. As if that weren’t enough, you can augment the set with LEGO Power Functions or LEGO Boost (both sold separately) to add sound effects, motorized operation, and motion sensors.
The roller coaster will be available exclusively to LEGO VIPs directly through LEGO starting on May 16 via shop.LEGO.com, LEGO Stores, or via phone; the rest of us can grab it in select stores starting June 1. It’ll run you $379.99âand at this park, you don’t have to pay for parking. If you want to be a serious master builder, consider this the first step in creating your own even crazier coaster. We certainly can’t wait to see the custom creations more ambitious fans will make.
