Emmet Throws a Christmas Party in THE LEGO MOVIE 2 Short

You know what’s great about Christmastime? Everything is awesome! The lights and decorations, the eggnog and cookies, and, most importantly, goodwill toward (LEGO) mankind. We just wish we could build on the spirit of the holiday to construct a better world all year long, especially because things can sometimes feel apocalyptic. That’s literally true for our favorite Master Builders ahead of the next The LEGO Movie, when they find themselves fighting to survive in the wreckage of their ruined home. But in a fun, new holiday short film, they are throwing a Christmas party so big it’s impossible to miss out on the fun. Especially for their enemies.

This new short finds the stars of The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reluctantly agreeing to help Chris Pratt’s Emmet throw a holiday party featuring festive decor and an ice skating rink in the desert of Apocalypseburg. His crowning achievement though is to build a Christmas tree so large it can be seen “FROM SPACE!” Because even though the DUPLO invaders from beyond destroyed their world, leaving it a barren wasteland where hope has gone to die, that’s no reason not to throw a festive bash.

The greatest gift we could get this Christmas is watching Will Arnett’s LEGO Batman trying to enjoy every normal human experience. Also, we know it’s going to be hard to live up to the first film just because it was so fantastic, but casting Tiffany Haddish as the new bad guy will certainly help.

Think we could build a Christmas tree big enough to get her to come over for our holiday bash? Now that would be awesome.
