LEGO is Making a Set with Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet. Because They Can.

Presumably because they could and it was there, LEGO, the only name in building block toys worth knowing, has, in its infinite desire to make every branded set in the history of everything, made Wonder Woman’s invisible jet the secondary vehicle in a new Justice League set. Is it made of clear plastic? Of course it is.

The set in question is called “Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas!” and is just the latest in LEGO’s long series of DC Comics-related sets, most of which include at least two heroes from the Justice League and a villain. This one, as you might assume, comes with Gorilla Grodd and also has minifigs of Captain Cold, Batman, The Flash, a frightened truck driver (because his banana truck is being destroyed by Grodd), and obviously Wonder Woman.

The fact that her invisible jet is one of the vehicles (which also features blue flame and grey rocket launchers, making it not at all invisible) isn’t quite as weird as you might think. It is Wonder Woman’s favorite mode of transportation, when she’s not flying under her own power (as she’s been known to do). The weirdest part to me is that the big vehicle is like a giant Batman mech suit. Has Batman ever used a mech suit? I didn’t think so. Also, Grodd and Captain Cold being in the set suggest this should be Flash-themed, and he is there, but since he doesn’t have any vehicles to speak of, it seems they needed something else to warrant the $80+ asking price. Oh, LEGO.

Weird Lego set?Making a set of one of the most popular characters of all time seems to just make sense. It’s not like this is the Lego Oppenheimer lab.

  3. Renzo says:

    i was expecting an empty box… 🙁

  4. Smitty says:

Batman had an exo suit in Batman Beyond, and not it’s not the exact same as the one in the set, not is the one in the set the same as any other mech suit Batman may have use but it’s the idea that counts. Just like Wounder Woman’s jet in not like the one seen in other media, but it’s the same idea.

  5. Two-Fisted Scientist says:

Ever read a little something called The Dark Knight Returns?  Sure, it doesn’t look like the Lego mech suit, but it’s a mech suit nonetheless – and one that is powerful enough to bring the pain on the Kryptonian Boy Scout.

$80 asking price???  Do your research. This set is listed at $34.95

  7. Danielle says:

Sorry, do your research,  this is going for $50 from Amazon and ToyRUs, it is the resellers and ebay that are jacking up the price.

  8. Nate says:

Never use Amazon as a point of reference for Lego prices. That price is marked up by $30 dollars compared to the Lego store.

  9. Craig says:

I’m fairly sure that Batman used a mech suit in Brave and the Bold…

  10. Umm, Batman has definitely used a mech suit in “Night of the Owls”, though. http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11/110894/2939761-armored-batman-1.jpg
