Learn All About How the World of BIG HERO 6 Came to Be Thanks to Tested

Today, Disney Animation and Marvel join forces for the first time in the action/adventure animated blockbuster, Big Hero 6. Inspired by the comic series of the same name, Big Hero 6 has had half of the its marketing job done for it thanks to the adorable android that is Baymax. While we had a great time chatting with the cast and directors at New York Comic-Con this year, there was only so much time to get into the nuts and bolts of how the latest animated Disney romp came to be. Thankfully, that’s where Tested comes in. In two of their recent videos, Norman Chan spoke with the directors of the upcoming film, as well as Disney Animation’s Chief Technology Officer, Andy Hendrickson, about what it took to bring the world of the film to life. Check ‘em out:

It’s these inside baseball behind-the-scenes videos that really whet our appetite more than anything when it comes to animated filmmaking. It’s so easy to forget these films aren’t made by one or two guys in a dark room 23 hours a day (everyone’s gotta break for snacks, right?);  it takes a village to create an animated one, and listening to Hendrickson, in particular, explain how many of the tools used to create the world of San Fransokyo were built from scratch really gets the inspiration juices flowing. If these guys cared so much about their film that they built whole new software to make it a reality, why are we not out making something right now? To be fair, though, this is usually how we feel after just about every Tested video we watch.

Big Hero 6 is in theaters everywhere.

Friendly suggestion – take some tissues.  If you cried during Up, this one will stab you in the heart just as strongly.  Incredible visuals around a pretty good story.
