What would the Internet be without people mashing up whatever the moment’s memes happen to be? Take the abundantly-lipped pop ingenue you love to hate (or hate to love), cross her signature tune with the youth-lit trilogy/budding movie franchise of the moment, and you get this, courtesy of Second City‘s Holly Laurent and filmmaker Steve Delahoyde, “Lana Del Rey’s Hunger Games” (NSFW due to a couple of F-bombs):
It’s all for you, Katniss.
Don’t hate the singing or even Lana Del Ray. Just don’t like hunger games.
I don’t know how I feel about Del Rey, I like her voice, but not her music. I thought this parody was great, and I chuckled a couple times at the word play.
The meter or whatever’s a bit off, but I thought it was cute enough.
It’s not spoilery, it still is based in the property, and I’m actually kind of a sucker for the melody of Video Games.
Plus the random montage video is pretty spot on in terms of Del Rey.
What? You nerds. This is great. Enjoy something!
Agree with Will, this was not expertly done. Plus, why give Lana Del Rey any more exposure? Let her career die sans earworms..
And yes, I know it’s a parody. Still. I didn’t like it AT ALL.
Awful. JUST AWFUL. I was 21 seconds in and out loud I said “awful”.
