Lady Sif is Returning to MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

When Marvel announced its initial plans to do a cross-over episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the release of Thor: The Dark World back in 2013, many were rightfully excited. However, instead of getting an episode that dealt directly with the film’s events, all we got was a storyline that could have happened regardless of The Dark World‘s plot, and a single scene of the team acting as the clean-up crew. But, seeing the disappointment fans had with the episode, the creative team was quick to rebound in the back half of last season with an appearance by the one and only Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif. In the episode, titled “Yes Men,” the bad-ass butt-kicker helped the team thwart the forces of Lorelei.

Of course, one cross-over isn’t what we want from S.H.I.E.L.D.. One of our favorite things are the occasional nod that the series does to remind us that, in fact, it does exist in the grander world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, of course we’re excited to find out that Sif will indeed be returning to the series, and it’s going to be happening much sooner than expected.

As revealed by TV Insider, Sif will rejoin the team in the second episode of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s spring run airing on March 10th. Said TV Line in their description of the episode, “when Lady Sif resurfaces she will have lost her short-term memory, meaning she knows nothing of Thor, let alone what/who she is back on Earth.” In addition, executive producer Jeffrey Bell stated to TV Insider, “it’ll give us some much-needed humor in a season that’s been full of betrayal and death.” The last tidbit the reports included went on to say the episode will see Sif having engaged in a “bodyslamming showdown” with a currently unnamed villain.

So, it seems S.H.I.E.L.D. is really going to be kicking its second season into high gear upon its return. In addition to the inclusion of various Inhumans, it’s really going to be nice to see some Asgardians come back into the mix as well.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, March 3rd  at 9/8c on ABC.

Who do you think the mysterious villain will be? Let us know in the comments below.
