For a few years now, Kristen Wiig and Jimmy Fallon have had an ongoing game playing out on The Tonight Show. When Wiig is scheduled to appear on the show and promote her newest project, she instead opts to appear in character as a person from pop culture about whom she knows little to nothing about, proceeding to fumble her way through an interview as that person. Previous incarnations have included basketball legend Michael Jordan and British boyband heartthrob Harry Styles. Last night, while promoting her new film Welcome To Me, Wiig appeared on Fallon’s show, and took to the stage dressed as the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen…or Karen Targaryen as it seems.

Early on in the interview, it is quite obvious that Wiig has never seen an episode of Game Of Thrones, and instead goes full-bore into making up her character as she goes along. While it may seem infuriating to hardcore fans of the dark fantasy series, anyone who has seen Wiig’s previous improvised interviews knows that the joke is more aimed at Wiig herself rather than at the character she chooses. The interview ranges from Karen and her little dragon Carl reminiscing about growing up in a dome on a hill in the forest to revealing her hobbies of mandolin and stand-up comedy. After showing a clip from Wiig’s new film, Fallon throws a surprise at her by asking her to sing her hit song “Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful.” The awkwardness ensues, but that’s where usually shines.
