Kojima Reveals New DEATH STRANDING Trailer Featuring Mads Mikkelsen and Guillermo Del Toro

It didn’t take long for The Game Awards to get interesting this year, as Hideo Kojima took to the stage to reveal another (weird) trailer for Kojima’s next project, Death Stranding. It’s as cryptic as the last one, check it out for yourself above!

Don’t worry, we don’t know what’s going on in the trailer either. There’s a baby in a tube, running mascara, and a world that seems to be in ruins. But, there is a new character played by Guillermo del Toro (!). We’re not sure what his role is at the moment, or if he is playing a larger role in development. The two are good friends, and have been trying to work together, so it’s not too surprising to see he’s involved in some capacity; it’s just strange that he might be an actual character in the game.

Mads Mikkelsen (!!) is also joining Norman Reedus in the game. In the trailer, we see him controlling a few soldiers via some sort of cables, it’s just so strange. You have to love Kojima.

At this point, Death Stranding could just be some fancy CGI experience, but it already has a star-studded cast so this has the potential of being huge. Of course, having Kojima at the helm makes this incredibly interesting, especially when you consider his work on the Metal Gear franchise, and the unique (and unfortunately cancelled) Silent Hills (a.k.a. P.T.).

Hopefully we’ll get another look at Death Stranding in a couple of days at the PlayStation Experience. Chances are we still won’t know what it’s about. But at least we can be happy that the legend that is Hideo Kojima is working on another game with zero to very little restraints. Can you make anything out of this new trailer? Do you think Guillermo del Toro will be the main character? Any guesses as to what the hell is going on? Let us know in the comments below!
