Watch as Ordinary Pasta is Turned into a Razor-Sharp Knife!

Anyone who has ever tried to slim down knows that often means cutting back on the carbs. But that doesn’t mean you have to toss away all that spare macaroni; instead, make those extra noodles useful by learning how to make razor-sharp knives entirely out of pasta!

In this Nerdist Special Report, our own Dan Casey dishes on these two unlikely, very sharp blades that Japanese YouTuber Kiwami Japan made by grinding macaroni into a fine paste, forming them into knives, letting them dry, and then painstakingly sharpening them. They are capable of stabbing cardboard boxes, slicing up tomatoes, and more. And the best part? When you’re done with all of your knifing needs you can toss them into some boiling water and turn your cutlery into cuisine.

This isn’t the first time Kiwami Japan has transformed a dish into a dagger. Previously, we watched as dried bonito was turned into a gorgeous, rock-hard utensil capable of filleting other fish. If you’d rather get your hands on a macaroni slicer instead, though, you can see the original video showing the entire, time-consuming process for making both kinds of pasta knives here.

So if you are looking to cut back on your carbs, just make them something that can slice up some healthy vegetables instead. Especially because when you realize you’re perfect just the way you are, you can celebrate with a big dish of pasta knives.
