Young Fan Gets Special Reward for Giving Milwaukee Brewers “GODZILLA Power”

The Milwaukee Brewers, who hadn’t made the playoffs in seven years, were 55-1 long shots before the season to win the World Series, but that didn’t stop them from reaching the final four in baseball’s post-season. How’d they do it? A special young fan gave them a giant edge over every other team–Godzilla Power. That dedication to his favorite team and his favorite monster got the boy a trip to Los Angeles to celebrate both.

In August, ten-year-old Nigel Ayala, who is obsessed with Godzilla, started giving Brewers players miniature figures of his favorite cinematic beast to endow them with what he calls “Godzilla power.” It worked, as the Brew Crew tied for the best record in the National League. When Legendary Entertainment, the studio responsible for 2014’s Godzilla and next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, heard about his story they flew him and his family out to L.A. to get a private tour. This included a meeting with director Michael Dougherty, who showed Nigel some scenes from the film, which doesn’t roar into theaters until next May.

That wasn’t all, though, because Legendary also sent him to Game 4 of the National League Championship Series to watch his favorite team in person. More importantly, his grandmother told Fox 6 News in Milwaukee the entire experience with the Brewers has been transformative for Nigel, who has autism. “The only thing you could get him to talk about was his Godzillas,” she said about her grandson before he started following the Brewers. “And now, I mean, you can get him to talk about anything. You walk up to him and he’ll start yapping away, and that’s so amazing.”

It’s more than amazing–it’s Godzilla power.

How would you define Godzilla power? Tell us in the comments below what that means to you.
