There’s a new sequel you never thought you’d see coming into the world, children of the 90s, and it’s here to hopefully tickle your nostalgia bone. Folks, I give you the trailer for Kindergarten Cop 2.
In case you forgot, Kindergarten Cop was the 1990 action-comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a tough-as-nails police enforcer who has to go undercover as a kindergarten teacher to find out which of the kids’ fathers is an international criminal. Most of you probably remember it for gifting us with an Austrian actor saying “It’s naht a tuumuh.” For this sequel/remake made TWENTY-SIX YEARS LATER, the makers decided to not shake things up too much and get another ’80s action star from Europe, this time Dolph “I Must Break You” Lundgren, to be the titular cop…only this time, he’s an FBI agent.
The movie itself doesn’t actually look too bad, given the circumstances, but I just wonder what kind of life it’s going to have, given that it seems to have the exact same premise, minus the novelty of seeing the current biggest action star in the world dealing with errant child-based shenanigans (and a lot of barely controlled chaos).
Kindergarten Cop 2 will be released on May 17, 2016.
Will Dolph Lundgren have the power to handle all the kiddie mania, or is he destined to again be…EXPENDABLE? (Get it, get it?) Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
