All right, then, how about this?:
One live event hosted by Kevin Pereira. On-stage podcast sessions with Chris Hardwick, Kevin Smith, Felicia Day, Doug Benson, Greg Fitzsimmons, Jimmy Pardo, Alex Albrecht, Epic Meal Time, and Ask a Ninja. A musical performance by VJ Mike Relm. DJ R-Rated providing the ambiance. And more to be announced.
You will want to be there. It’s the inaugural leetUP, the brainchild of Mr. Pereira with Charles Hirschhorn and the folks at iam8bot Productions, and it’s intended as a celebration of nerd art and culture. It’s coming to Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 1st.
The event will have the above-mentioned appearances, plus interactive “experiential zones” with all sorts of videogames and technology for you to try out between the acts, like a nerd carnival. And, in case you’re into it, they say that Cosplay and other exhibits of fandom will be “encouraged and rewarded.” There’s more at the official website, which you’ll find by clicking here.
Tickets are on sale now, and you can get them by clicking here, or through Ticketmaster locations, the Staples Center box office, or at iam8bit’s store at 2147 W. Sunset Blvd. in L.A. There are VIP tickets available that include a pre-show reception with some of the talent, a VIP gift bag, access to a private VIP lounge, and reserved balcony seating. There are also cheaper tickets, too, so it’s pretty affordable for everyone. And they intend to take this sucker out on the road in the near future, so if you’re not in L.A., keep an eye out and there might be a leetUP in your neighborhood soon.
How can Chris be at this on the first and in Colorado on the second Crazy!
Seeing as how this is the 1st ever event. It has been a hard sell to the group. I just can’t seem to point to anything that defines it. I’ll be there at least. Although the VIP ticket and the VIP gift bag seems to be the carrot that seems to have their attention. C you all on 03/01!!!!
I reeeally want to go but there’s no way it’s happening. Maybe next time. San Francisco, maybe? I hope everyone who goes has the most nerdiest fun ever!
Epic Meal time kind of stands out in that guest list as one of these things is not like the other. Those guys always act like meat heads, not that there is anything wrong with that. Their shtick just doesn’t seem in keeping with the nerd. It would be cool if they actually had a conversation for once though.
This sounds so awesome. “Nerd carnival” may be my new favorite combination of words. Here’s hoping they bring leetUP to New York. Sometimes living on the East Coast makes my heart cry.
While I know that amazing lineup won’t go with it, I hope some version of leetUP comes to Boston. It was disappointing to hear W00tstock wouldn’t be touring again this year.
