Next year, director Shane Black is bringing The Predator back to the big screen eight years after the last film in the franchise. And this time the Predator has a new enemy:Â Keegan-Michael Key!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Key is in final talks to join the cast of The Predator in a currently undisclosed role. However, it is known that Key’s character will team up with Boyd Holbrook and Trevante Rhodes‘ ex-Marines as they take on the upgraded Predator in modern suburbia. Key has previously appeared in Tomorrowland and Vacation, in addition to his starring turn in Keanu, and Key & Peele, his popular sketch comedy series with Jordan Peele. And as you can see in this clip from that series, this won’t be the first time that Key has faced off against alien invaders…
Olivia Munn is also a member of The Predator‘s cast as a scientist, and she may be one of the film’s main leads. Black co-wrote the script with Fred Dekker, which will reportedly update the franchise without actually rebooting it. Apparently the events of Predator and Predator 2 will be addressed at some point in the movie, but whether that means Arnold Schwarzenegger or Danny Glover will make cameos remains to be seen. But that’s definitely something that we want.
The Predator is scheduled to begin filming late next month before heading to theaters on March 2, 2018.
