The release of the next installment of The Hunger Games is less than a month away, and it looks like Mockingjay Part 1 is going to wreck us. As we’ve seen in previous teasers, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) becomes the symbol of the rebellion against the Capitol and President Snow. The unhappy and oppressed citizens of Panem are rallying around her, and the actual leader of District 13, President Coin (Julianne Moore), isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes to make Katniss step up to the plate and become the Mockingjay.
The most recent trailer featured Katniss visiting a decimated District 12, and boy, it was hard to watch. The final trailer for Mockingjay Part 1 revisits that tragic scene, adds in plenty of moments from what is essentially a war, and also shows a glimpse of an angry Katniss. Up to this point, trailers have shown her as scared or as the reluctant hero. But here? She’s ticked, and she’s bringing the fight to President Snow. Take a look:
You tell him, Katniss. Even if she’s being forced to threaten him for the sake of putting on a show, it sounds pretty damn convincing. Snow has taken away her home and killed her friends, he’s the one who’s put her through the Games, and he’s captured Peeta. He should count himself lucky if Katniss doesn’t rip off his head with her bare hands the next time she encounters him.
For those of you playing at home, the release date for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is November 21, 2014.
