JUSTICE LEAGUE ACTION Scores Premiere Date, and More TV News

This is the last TV-Cap of the week, so we’re wrapping it up in style. I have a synopsis and premiere date for the new Justice League cartoon, Justice League Action, a report about Michelle Yeoh joining Star Trek: Discovery, some on-point Lost in Space casting, and more. Dive right in, and have a happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Christmas! The premiere of Justice League Action will debut on Cartoon Network on December 16, with subsequent episodes airing on Saturdays beginning on December 24. That’s less than a month away! And how about a synopsis for the premiere?

“In ‘Shazam Slam,’ the villainous Black Adam battles Batman on the Rock of Eternity and unleashes a horde of Djinn determined to turn the Earth back to its pre-human, volcanic state. Affected by the otherworldly powers of these primordial monsters, Batman becomes possessed and is turned into a giant flying Batmonster laying waste to the Hall of Justice, with only Superman capable of taking the fight to the Dark Knight. One by one, the Justice League – with the help of Shazam (voiced by Sean Astin) and The Wizard (voiced by Carl Reiner) – must hunt down and defeat each Djinn in order to yet again save the world from destruction.”

Oh. Boy! I mean, really, they had me at Kevin Conroy as Batman. [CBR]

Sneak peek from the #Heathers set….. jealous much? @tvland

Time for Meanness. The 1988 film Heathers is being resurrected as an anthology series for TV Land, and guess what? Shannen Doherty is back. She shared a photo from set confirming a role in at least the pilot episode of the reboot. She’s playing a “pivotal, unnamed character.” [TVLine]

Doctor in the House. Speaking of reboots, Netflix and Legendary are embracing the Robinson family with a new Lost in Space series, and they’ve cast Doctor Smith. Parker Posey is set to play the character who initially caused the Robinson family’s problems. [Nerdist]

Whole Hog Raunch. Season 12 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will premiere on FXX on January 4. A censored tease doesn’t do the comedy justice, but a new Red Band trailer lets it all hang out. The language is NSFW, so maybe pop in headphones for this one (which you should always do, by the way, if you work in an office with an open floor plan). [Slashfilm]

Marvel and IMAX. We recently learned Marvel is bringing The Inhumans to television and that they’re working with IMAX. The first two episodes of the upcoming eight episode series will premiere in IMAX theaters beginning on Labor Day 2017. After that, the episodes will come to ABC for their fall line-up. But how else is IMAX involved? Get more details here at Nerdist.

Warm and Fuzzies. With the holidays approaching, it means many series go for a themed episode or special, and IFC is joining with their own holiday cheer. They’ve announced their first “slightly off holiday special.” Titled Joe’s Pub Presents: A Holiday Special, the comedy and music event will air on December 21. It’s slated to include holiday themed performances from comics, singers, and actors at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan.

It’s That Time. We saw a poster from the upcoming Arrowverse crossover yesterday that highlighted Supergirl, but now, it’s all about The Flash. Doesn’t the building behind Barry look an awful lot like the Hall of Justice? [CBR, Image: The Flash]

To Hulu! If you’re itching to binge all of The Powerpuff Girls, you’ll have to point your browser to Hulu. They’ve landed exclusive streaming rights for the series, which includes the classic library and the recent reboot. The deal kicks in as of early 2017. [Variety]

Could It Be? We need to discuss a casting rumor for Star Trek: Discovery. Word is floating around that Michelle Yeoh is set to join the series. CBS hasn’t commented on the casting, but how amazing would it be? She’d have to be the lead, right? [Nerdist]

Blood and Chills. Did you feel an icy blast Tuesday night? That was just Killer Frost; you can read about Caitlin’s transformation in Joseph’s recap of The Flash. Then for a taste of something different, check out Samantha’s Scream Queens recap.

Are you planning to watch Justice League Action? What about the series has you most excited? Tell me in the comments.
