JURASSIC WORLD Director’s THE BOOK OF HENRY Trailer is… Not What You’d Expect

When you have proved that you can make a gazillion dollars helming a big budget Hollywood movie, like director Colin Trevorrow did with Jurassic World, they pretty much let you do your thing on your next high-profile outing. (Case in point: his developing Star Wars Episode IX.) But sometimes these directors will also step outside the blockbuster game. The trailer for Trevorrow’s follow-up effort, The Book of Henry, is about as far away from dinosaur fights as you can get.

The movie, a thriller about a genius young boy who recognizes that his female schoolmate and neighbor is in some sort of trouble relating to her police chief stepfather, looks like a cross between Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window and last year’s Midnight Special, but if it was then put through the Steven Spielberg/Amblin Entertainment retro filter.

Even the movie’s poster tries to capture that feeling.

The movie stars young Jaeden Lieberher as the brilliant young Henry, a child so smart he almost feels like a superhero. Joining him in the cast is Naomi Watts as his mother, Room‘s Jacob Tremblay as his little brother, and Breaking Bad‘s Dean Norris as the villainous neighbor, along with Sarah Silverman and Saturday Night Live‘s Bobby Moynihan.

This might not be what many of us expected for the Jurassic World guy’s next movie, and this is very different from what he’ll be asked to do with his Star Wars film, but that doesn’t mean we’re not excited for it. Who doesn’t love a super genius little kid saving the day in a throwback thriller?

The Book of Henry opens in theaters this summer, on June 16th. What did you think of the trailer? What other movies does it remind you of? Tell us in the comments below.
