Ah, the ’90s, when sport utility vehicles were a thing. If you were anywhere with snow (and even lots of places without), the SUV was a staple vehicle, and perhaps none were stapler (not the correct use) than the Ford Explorer, the bog-standard SUV famous for reliably needing maintenance. But for one shining moment in 1993, the Ford Explorer became one of the coolest cars on the planet by being the main tour vehicles presented in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park.
Now, a man in the UK has decided to transform a 1994 Ford Exploder (the unofficial nickname my friend in college gave hers) into one of these iconic color-clashing cruisers. Turns out finding a 1994 Explorer in the United Kingdom was not particularly easy. But eventually the man — who goes by the Reddit username “Voicey” — tracked one down and began the arduous task of repainting the car and decking out the interior as accurately as he could. Despite not having the voice of Richard Kiley to narrate his excursions, he spared no expense.
Work still needs to be done, he said, but he’s already brought the car to Wales Comic-Con where it elicited quite a few excited yelps. He even drove it to a safari park where he got to show off what the view of large animals looks like from within. Though giraffes are much less aggro than T. rex.
Below, you can see a full gallery of Voicey‘s work. Next he wants to make his own Mad Max interceptor, which would be both B and A.
