We are just over a month away from seeing the holy trinity together on the big screen for the first timeâand by that we mean Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, of course. But will the trio be the only guests at DC’s first super-powered big-screen bash?
No! Zack Snyder himself has finally confirmed just how much of the Justice League weâll be seeing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and because he’s such a mensch, how much screen-time they’ll have. Speaking on the Hall of Justice podcast, Snyder laid out that the other Justice League characters”âmeaning Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborgâwon’t be around nearly as much as the Amazonian Princess, but they will be present. Said Snyder:
“As far as the other Justice League characters go, they play a very small role. It’s really just a whisper they exist. Except for Wonder Woman, we see her really well. But really the movie is about Batman and Superman. And we really take time with them, and we really drill down on the why of them and what they stand for and their beliefs and them as characters. That’s pretty much the why of the movie. But again as I said, it does begin the conversation about these guys are out there.”
A “whisper” eh? Well, at least we don’t have to wait too long before finding out for ourselves. But wait, thereâs more! While he was on a roll confirming stuff weâd thought but never knew for sure, Snyder also cleared up the fact that DCâs on-screen heroes exist in a multiverse!
“As opposed to trying to shoehorn all these storylines into a single universe, we let the characters exist in a multi-universe, and itâs a lot more fun, and [has] a lot more value for the audience.”
But wait â again! ‘Cause there’s more â again! As you might imagine, a new Batman means a new Batman theme, and as you may have heard, Hans Zimmerâwho scored most of Batman v Supermanâpassed the job of coming up with a new Bat-anthem to Mad Max: Fury Road and Deadpool composer Junkie XL. On Friday morning, we got our very first listen to the track that’ll define the new Batman’s vibe for at least the next half a decade. Is it the best theme yet? Well, it’s loud and bombastic, but we’ll have to wait to see how it fits with Ben Affleck’s take on Bruce Wayne before deciding for sure.
