Disney Reveals Full JUNGLE BOOK Triptych Poster, Plus More New Images

Over the course of this week, the folks at Walt Disney Pictures have been giving fans a few sneak peeks into the world of their upcoming live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book. They started by revealing the first two pieces of an oversized triptych movie poster; the first which featured the characters King Louie (voice acted by Christopher Walken) and Kaa the serpent (voiced by Scarlett Johansson), and the second showed off Shere Khan the tiger (who is being brought to life by Idris Elba). Now, Disney has released the final portion of the poster, which features Baloo the bear (voiced by Bill Murray), the panther Bagheera (voiced by Sir Ben Kingsley), and young newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli himself.

In addition to the completed movie poster, Disney has also released four high quality stills from the film. The pictures show what looks to be young Mowgli entering a ruined temple and encountering King Louie for the very first time. While in the classic animated movie King Louie was an orangutan, the new film’s director Jon Favreau decided to make Louie a gigantopithecus, a long extinct race of giant ape, since orangutans don’t actually live in the jungles of India. I’m not sure why an extinct species of colossal ape is considered more realistic than an orangutan in India… but he looks cool, so who cares? Besides, reality goes out the window the minute all the animals start to talk, right?

You can see the full triptych final movie poster below, and then check out our gallery of newly released images from the film. The Jungle Book is set to be released on April 15th.
