Jon Heder and Johnny Pemberton to Voice Disney’s PICKLE & PEANUT

The Disney Channel has a lot of great projects in the works. Just over a week ago, they announced their hit animated series Phineas and Ferb is going to have its own Star Wars special. Now, Disney XD has officially launched production on their latest series from Noah Z. Jones (creator of Fish Hooks), Pickle and Peanut, which will be a mix of live action and 2D animation. The premiere is scheduled for fall 2014.

Even more exciting is the news that Jon Heder and comedian Johnny Pemberton will be voicing the titular characters of Pickle and Peanut. Heder is best known as Napoelon Dynamite and has filled his filmography with similar comedic roles like going ice skate to ice skate against Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory. He’s also been doing some voice work with Disney iin Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, and will be portraying Roy Disney in the upcoming Walt Before Disney.

Pemberton has also had a cornucopia of character roles throughout his career, including In The Loop, 21 Jump Street, Kroll Show, This Is 40, 22 Jump Street, and also appers in plenty of web videos on JASH, Funny or Die, and others. He’s also made his way as a unique stand-up comedian that frequently works interpretative dancing into his sets.

Heder and Pemberton playing a pickle and peanut as “small-town underdogs” should be one of the more generation-defying series that the Disney Channel will have. Perhaps it will be their answer to Adventure Time!
