Since its release at the beginning of the summer, Wonder Woman has soared past audience expectations, both critically and at the box office. As of this week, the Patty Jenkins film has not only eclipsed the rest of the DCEU to date, it has become Warner Bros.’ third-biggest domestic grossing film ever (behind The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight). With its incredible success and the many visceral, powerful responses the film has received, Wonder Woman already means a lot to so many people… which is why we want to celebrate the character, the movie, and the message with you, dear readers, at San Diego Comic-Con!
This week, Team Nerdist will be headed down to San Diego for our annual Conival, Comic-Con panels, and non-stop news coverage (more details here!), but we’ll also be gathering all the Wonder Women we can find for an Amazonian March through the Gaslamp. If you’re interested in joining us, we’re meeting on Friday, July 21st at 11am at the Terrace at the Marriott Marquis and Marina! Cosplay is encouraged, but not required, and this march is meant to be all-inclusive, meaning anyone (not just folks who identify as female) can join!
Whether you have been a die-hard fan of Diana Prince throughout her entire comics reign or you’ve just discovered her humor, sincerity, or general badassitude, you are welcome to join us as we champion a message we think we could all use right now. Believe in the power of love, treat those around you with kindness and respect… but don’t be afraid to kick a few baddies’ butts if you need to!
Stay tuned to Nerdist for all things Comic-Con, and let us know if you’ll be joining us at the Wonder Woman March on Twitter using #Conival!Â
Special thanks to incredibly talented artists Catherine and Sarah Satrun for letting us use their amazing artwork for our poster! Check out their Etsy store here.
