John Williams Back To Score “Star Wars Episode VII”

Well, this is welcome news indeed: John Williams has signed on to score Star Wars Episode VII. That’s the word from Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy at Star Wars Celebration Europe II in Germany, and the news was accompanied by this video:

Interesting that he says he doesn’t know the story and prefers not to read the scripts beforehand, waiting until he sees the action so he can use the same element of surprise that the audience feels before creating the musical cues. But his participation can’t be much of a surprise to anyone. It wouldn’t feel right without him, would it?
