There are so many things to love about The Late Late Show with James Corden‘s latest video parody. Its a send-up of the iconic Brandy and Monica song, “The Boy is Mine.” It features Transparent‘s Jeffrey Tambor. There are silk pajamas and Star Wars‘ John Boyega. But it is missing one incredibly crucial, important thing that would have made this a truly outta sight parody: Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron.
Y’all. IT WAS RIGHT THERE!
For those of you somehow lost in your own thoughts and opinions and not those of the collective internet hive mind, here’s why this is so important. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Boyega’s Finn and Isaac’s Poe Dameron became an instantly obsessed-over couple the internet desperately wanted to see (more so, even, than Finn and Rey). There’s been fan art, fan fiction, and even more than a few winks and nods to the potential lovebirds from the actors themselves. So while we absolutely love this homage to the song itself, we just think they could have really gone above and beyond here by adding Isaac in at the end.
It wouldn’t be hard to do (I mean, minus working around Isaac’s Hamlet schedule as he’s currently starring in a production of it in New York and Corden shoots in Los Angeles), just add a quick button at the end of Boyega walking off with Isaac. That’s all! That’s all the people want â we don’t ask for much (just more teases about the most beloved relationship in Star Wars history don’t @ us about it, it’s science).
