Joe Quesada Talks JESSICA JONES, DAREDEVIL, Marvel Animation, and More

With movies planned out through 2020, multiple television projects on both major networks and streaming platforms, and 60 brand new titles launching across their publishing arm, Marvel looks poised to take over the world. While it’s easy to point to people like Kevin Feige and Jeph Loeb as some of the chief architects behind Marvel’s media takeover, they are but part of a larger cabal of creatives who are transforming the House of Ideas into a global pop culture superpower. One of the men who is instrumental to this pop cultural conquest is Joe Quesada. Longtime comics fans will remember Quesada as the beloved artist behind titles like Daredevil, the editor-in-chief who launched Marvel Knights and Ultimate Marvel, and the friendly face behind the long-running “Cup ‘O Joe” column over at Comic Book Resources.

Now, though, Quesada helps oversee Marvel’s myriad efforts as the Chief Creative Officer, working on everything from the comics line to TV and beyond. Recently, I had the pleasure of catching up with Quesada while in New York where I spoke with him about Jessica Jones, the Punisher’s impending arrival on Daredevil, what’s coming down the pipeline for Marvel Animation (hint: a Christmas special), and much, much more.
