What’s more effective than a bit of musical kumbaya-ing to help people get their solidarity on? Especially when it comes to unifying the diametrically opposed towns of Pawnee and Eagleton, Indiana. That’s why Jeff Tweedy has been tapped to appear on NBC’s Parks and Recreation. The Wilco frontman has taped a guest spot for the comedy series, tasked with bringing together the two towns at the intersection of comedy and music. Here’s hoping Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) has his demos in order.

“[Tweedy] plays the former lead singer of a band called ‘Land Ho!’ — complete with exclamation point; Tweedy’s pitch — that was very popular in Indiana a while back,” explained executive producer Michael Schur. “Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Andy are trying to convince him to reunite for the big Unity Concert they are organizing to solidify the merger of Pawnee and Eagleton.” But if you’re looking for a harmonious reunion, think again: apparently the musician Tweedy plays is none-too-keen on a Land Ho! reunion following the group’s nasty break-up.

Musicians and comedians as creative bedfellows is far from a shocking notion, given the increasingly rich intersection of the two mediums of late — and not just because of our very own Jonah Ray’s Jonah Raydio podcast, hint hint nudge nudge. Comedians and musicians alike have dabbled in each other’s ponds, like Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse (starring/created by comedian Brendon Small), whose band, Dethklok, actually performs in real life. And Greg Behrendt, who — in addition to his comedic prowess — also fronts a surf rock band called The Reigning Monarchs. (Both he and his band will be performing alongside Chris Hardwick and others during this weekend’s Bring The Rock show at SF Sketchfest.) And just last night, Neko Case showed up on @midnight, where she gave BuzzFeed’s editorial quiz slate a few solid suggestions (“What cat is your dog?”).

Parks and Recreation returns to NBC after the Olympics on February 27th. Tweedy’s episode is slated to air in early spring.
